July has arrived, and the garden is soaking up every bit of that summer sunshine! This month, Basil picked two warm-weather favorites that are just as much fun to harvest as they are to eat: sweet corn and blueberries.
🌽 Sweet Corn
There’s nothing quite like pulling back a green husk and finding rows of golden kernels underneath. Sweet corn loves July’s heat, and when it’s picked fresh, it hardly needs anything at all to make it delicious. Grill it, boil it, roast it, or cut those kernels right off the cob and add them to your favorite summer dishes.
🫐 Blueberries
Small, sweet, and bursting with flavor, blueberries are one of summer’s easiest treats. Pick them straight from the bush for snacking, toss them into breakfast, bake them into something wonderful, or freeze a few so you can enjoy a little taste of July later in the year.
Then we’ll take them from the garden to the kitchen!
This month, our Plot to Pot crew will turn Basil’s sweet corn and blueberries into four delicious recipes. Let’s see what they cook up!
